Volumes location 'unknown'

Question

Recovering nw7.3.1 in lab...
recover bootstrap...ok
recover index...ok

When it comes time to recover files via nwrecover it says that the location of the tape volume is "unknown" yet the tape is loaded and mounted in the tape drive.

Shouldn't the volumes say "online" ?

If it is standalone, ensure you have mounted the tape.If it si library/autoloader, inventory the slot.

No, recover to different box. I finally figured out it was related to the proper setup of client names.

That 'unknown' is typical for issues between index and mmdb database - usually caused by clientid. Did you do restore to the same box with exactly the same setup as before?
