2716 Vlan help needed
Hi,
I have a 2716 that I bought a few days ago. I am very confused on how to setup Vlans on the switch. Right now I have the switch setup temporarly with 2 laptops connnected and a connection to my router to practice. The setup is as follows-
Port 1 is connected to my router.
Port 7 is connected to Laptop1.
Port 15 is connected to Laptop2.
I would like to be able to setup a Vlan so that the router and Laptop2 are on a Vlan and laptop 1 is on another Vlan. It is my understanding that since Laptop1 is on another Vlan it will not be able to access the router or Laptop2.
How do I do this? On the Vlan Managment page I created a Vlan numbered "2" and then do I set port 1 and port 15 as "T" tagged egress packets or "U" untagged egress packets?
Then do I setup Vlan "3" and for Laptop1 and set it port as "T" or "U"?
After this when I go into the Vlan port settings what settings do I set for port 1 and port 15 which are on the same Vlan? What PVID do I use? What frame type and ingress filtering settings should I use?
Sorry for the long post and questions but I cannot find answers or a "how to" guide for Dell Vlans anywhere for the 27xx switches.
Thanks.
