Dell Force10 S4810 access port question
Hi all,
I need to pxe boot servers from a pxe/dhcp server and all of them are connected to S4810. Previously on powerconnect switches I had make the ports access port to specific vlan in order make pxe boot work. How do I make ports access port on S4810s?
Thanks
Paras

Hi,
You should just be able to use the switchport command to make it a layer 2 port. Page 863

This is where I am confused. I could do for ex: : switchport access vlan 10
What is the equivalent in 4810s?
Thanks

Layer 2 mode is similar to access mode, layer 3 mode is similar to trunk mode and hybrid mode is similar to general, but there are not direct equivalents. Setting the port in layer 2 mode should allow you to do PXE.

Yes for hybrid mode. You can’t have a port be untagged for two VLANs.

Thanks for the reply.
If i need a port that has to be both untagged and tagged, does it have to be in a hybid mode ?
One more question: how do we make a single port support two untagged vlans? does pvid come into play in this case?
Thanks
