Hi Team,

My customer has a Dell N3248TE-ON and wants to access the equipment via web to manage it, is it possible?

If it is possible, please can you tell me how to configure it to access via web?

Thanks & Best Regards,

JuanmHA,

To access a Dell N3248TE switch from the internet, you need to configure remote access to the switch by enabling a management interface and setting up appropriate network configurations. Once these steps are completed, you can access the switch remotely using a web browser or a remote management tool. In order to do this you would need to do the following general steps;

  1. Connect the switch to your network and ensure it has an IP address assigned.
  2. Configure remote access to the switch by enabling SSH (Secure Shell) or HTTPS (Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure) protocols on the switch.
  3. Assign a username and password to secure the remote access.
  4. Configure port forwarding or NAT (Network Address Translation) on your internet router/firewall to allow incoming connections to the switch's management IP address.
  5. Ensure that any necessary firewall rules are in place to permit the incoming traffic.
  6. Obtain your public IP address, which is the address that the switch will be accessible from over the internet.
  7. Use a SSH client or HTTPS-capable web browser to connect to the switch's public IP address from the internet.
  8. Enter the assigned username and password to authenticate and access the switch's management interface.

Please note that the specific steps may vary depending on your network setup and security policies

Now on aa side note, in my opinion accessing network devices from the internet can pose security risks, so it's important to follow best practices and implement proper security measures, such as using secure protocols, strong passwords, and access control lists.

Let me know if this helps.

Hi Chris,

What I need, is Web "GUI" access to the switcht to manage, the problem is that it won't let me enable https on the Switch.

Switch N3248TE-ON

Version: OS10 10.5.6

If I try to configure "Ip https server", it doesn't let me.

SWITCH01(config)# ip http
source-interface  Source interface for http/https client
vrf               Specify VRF name to be used for HTTP connections

SWITCH01(config)#

In OS10 can ip http server be configured?

Thanks & Best Regards,

Juanmi

To enable HTTPS using the GUI, you can follow these steps:

  1. Log in to the switch's web interface using your administrator credentials.
  2. Navigate to the "Security" or "Management" section of the GUI.
  3. Look for an option related to "HTTPS" or "SSL/TLS" settings.
  4. Enable the HTTPS protocol by selecting the appropriate checkbox or toggle switch.
  5. Save the changes and apply the configuration.
  6. The switch should now be accessible using the configured port, typically port 443.

Please note that the exact steps may vary depending on the specific firmware version and GUI interface on the switch.

Hi Chris,

The problem is that I can't access the switch via http/https, it won't let me.

That's why I was asking if GUI access to the switch is enabled in OS10.

If I connect via CLI, I don't have the option to configure "ip http server".

Thanks & Best regards,

Juanmi
