Dell Powerconnect 6248 stack troubleshooting

Hi,

I have 6 Dell PC6248 stacked together and the first one is master.  Couple weeks ago we had a power outage.  After power went back, the fifth refused to boot up and it keeps flashing the Diag light so that I thought the switch is bad.  I have ordered another PC6248 online and reset it to factory default and configure the firmware to 3.3.4.1 which is same as my original stack firmware.

Based on the search online, i thought after i plug back the stacking cable/module and power it on, it should automaticaly communicate to the master switch and get settings configured, however, it didnt work and both 1 and master light on.

Then I checked my old fifth switch which i thought it was a BAD one, after I boot it on seperately, it shows its correct membership as 5 and master light was on.  I can login to the switch which shows there is nothing wrong with this switch.

After this, I came up an conclusion that the stacking module or stacking cable must be faulty.  So I ordered some stacking module and cables which is same as my current one.  After I replace the stacking module and boot the 5th swtich in the stack, it shows both master and 5 light.  It didn't communicate with the stack either.

Can anyone tell me what could be the problem?  DO i need to restart the whole stack?

When I get into the UI interface, the Stack Summary shows the Switch ID 5 is unassigned and Stack port summary doesn't even shows the unit 5 stacking information.  The working stack switches are up for about 30 days.  Do I need to reboot the whole stack?

Hi,

Restarting the stack is the best option if you have already tried the cables and switch.
