Enabling/Configuring STP on PowerConnect 2848
Hello all,
I have purchased 4 2848 switches and I logged into them to configure the STP so they all play nice together. It would seem that STP is enabled by default and is enabled on every port already. Is this accurate? Do I need to manually assign 2 ports on each switch for the links or is this basically plug and play. That seems a little to good to be true so I thought I would ask the community. Thank you for all your help.

Hi,
It should be enabled by default. You can check on the global settings page. Page 115 http://downloads.dell.com/Manuals/all-products/esuprt_ser_stor_net/esuprt_networking/esuprt_net_fxd_prt_swtchs/powerconnect-2848_User%27s%20Guide_en-us.pdf
And make sure that it is enable on the individual ports Page 117.
For assigning ports to link between the switches you will want to add ports to a LAG. Page 132.
