Firmware Updates for S Series Switches
Hi, I am planning on upgrading my Dell S4148-F switches with the latest OS10 update and was looking to also update the switch firmware using the ONIE.bin file however I can't find this in Dell Digital Locker. I have access to a large number of OS10 versions including the latest but nothing for ONIE. Has the firmware upgrade process changed at all?
Thanks in advance!

Sunking2498,
You can find the update here, and steps to update from page 4 here.
Let me know how it goes.

I used the manual update process to upgrade the ONIE updater by rebooting & going into ONIE, then installing from USB:
Select - Boot into ONIE and select ONIE UPDATE - UPDATE ONIE
Type : onie-discovery-stop to have the prompt #
- mkdir /media (to create a folder for mounting USB stick)
- fdisk -l (to see the partition you have to mount from the stick) - (in this case sdb1)
- mount /dev/sdb1 /media
- ls -l (to see files are available, easy then to copy the file name)
- cd .. (to get back to root)
- onie-self-update media/onie-updater-x86_64-dellemc_s4100_c2338-r0.3.33.1.1-9
I then upgraded the switch firmware from within OS10. It seemed a more straightforward process rather than attempting this from within ONIE. I used the following commands:
#image install usb://onie-firmware-x86_64-dellemc_s4100_c2338-r0.3.33.5.1-23.bin
#show image firmware
then reloaded the switch to start the firmware update process.
The only issue experienced was I accidentally went into the ONIE Image Install section at one point & had to reboot & hit F2 to get out of a reboot loop which went straight back into onto ONIE Image Install.

Why are these files still so difficult to locate? I have a requirement for an S5224F-ON, all the documentation tells me to simply enter the service tag, which makes sense, but all I get is a PDF about ONIE.

Hello. The OS10 firmware files is available in DDL(dell digital locker) and ONIE updater/onie-firmware/PCIE files located here
https://dell.to/3Yx0GiT.
There are two methods of installation as below:
ONIE method installation ( this is clean installation method, but deletes everything from switch and creates new partition on the switch and install OS10 firmware)
CLI OS10 upgrade ( this method is useful when wanting to upgrade from lower version to latest version which will not delete anything (startup-configuration) in the switch when upgrade the switch.
You can choose whichever that will suit your needs.
