LAG and VLAN Help
Hello, all.
I have a 4-port LAG connecting two 5448 switches that i'm trying to isolate on VLAN 1000. Here is my config, that doesn't currently seem to be working:
on switch A
vlan database
vlan 1000
exit
int range eth g(1-4)
switchport access vlan 1000
int range eth g(41-44)
channel-group 1 mode auto
int port-channel 1
switchport mode general
switchport general allowed vlan add 1000
on Switch B

Assuming that the LAG is on the same port numbers on both switches (41-44), will ports 1-4 on Switch A be able to communicate with port 5-8 on Switch B?

Set the pvid on the port-channel to 1000.

I added that setting, but it didn't help. I think i may be having a Spanning Tree problem. On one switch, the STP status is "Forwarding". On the other switch, the STP status is "Blocking".
Here's the running-config if it helps; note the actual ports in the port-channel are slightly different than the original hypothetical.

I don't believe that's what I want. g1-4 are connected to hosts and shouldn't be part of the LAG.

Sorry about that. These Dell config files scatter the information. I sse that you have ports g41-g44 in port channel 1.
Please post out put of "show interface status" and "show spanning-tree" from both switches.

One thing I haven't mention before that is apparently important. g46 on Switch A is connected to our private management switch. g46 on Switch B is connected to g47 on Switch A. If I disabled g47 on Switch A, Ch1 goes right into STP Forwarding status.
If I then re-enable g47, this happens:

So I apparently can't have more than one span or something like that?

Like most switches, PowerConnects default to a singel spanning tree per switch. This means that even if ports are in seperate vlans, spanning tree will ignore the vlans and remove physical loops in the network, even if there are no loopsg in the individual vlans.
So, in your case, port 46 is in vlan 1 and port channel 1 is in vlan 1000. You interconnected the switches via the port channels AND via port 46. Spanning tree detected a loop, and disabled the port channel, even though there was no loop because port 46 and port channel 1 are in different vlans. Disabling the port channel removed vlan 1000 connectivity to the other switch.
If you need vlan 1 connectivity between these switches, I recommend adding vlan 1 to the port channel, making vlan 1000 tagged on the port channel and setting pvid on the port channel to 1. And then do not connect the switches together via port 46/47.

switchport general allowed vlan add 1 untagged
Do this on both switches.

Hi, bh1633.
Thanks for all of your help. I ended up calling Dell Tech Support and they confirmed everything you said (as I suspected), but also opened up the option to use MSTP on these switches. This was it's possible to do a Spanning-tree per VLAN.
I'll see if that fits in with the topology we're trying to create, but I think given all of your advice and help, we're going to move ahead with what we have gotten to work now.
