Locked out of Switch
I was trying to create a test network with the 2808 to a router. I put all ports into a VLAN and now I am unable to connect to it either directly or through the router. I was wondering if I could manually reset the device to factory default without having to go into the GUI because I am not able?

If the reset with switching to unmanaged does not work you can connect with the terminal and erase the flash file.

Yes, VLAN 1 is what is used for management.
the managed mode LED flashes for about 12 seconds then ALL LEDs (so all the RJ45 ports) flash on/off, there's a 2 second pause and then it goes through the same cycle again". If you press the managed mode button on/off during the 2 second pause it sets managed mode to off - most of the time. After it's stopped flashing you can then set it to managed mode by pressing it again and then you can login to the switch via web browser from there.

Hi,
You can reset the switch by changing to unmanaged mode and back. Page 23

Well, that is a problem because none of the ports are on VLAN1. With no ports on VLAN1, what can I do to reset it?

I was hoping there would be something else because the 2808 does not have the terminal option, only the 2816 and higher. Unless I am missing something? Thanks for the help and I will respond to this thread in the morning. I appreciate your assistance!

Hello Josh,
Okay, I'll try that, but it has not moved out of managed mode. I held down the button until the port lights flashed and the manage mode LED started to flash, but it went back to manage mode. I then unplugged it and held down the button and plugged it back in, only to go into manage mode. I did this a few times. I look at Page 42 and it states to hold the button down for less than 7 seconds. I will give it another shot in the morning. Would placing all of the ports in a VLAN prevent the Web UI from showing?

I was unable to connect to the switch this morning by switching it over to unmanage and then back to manage. However, the user manual does not explain how to connect to the 2808 via terminal, since only the 2816 and higher have the serial port. I tried two console cables, but they do not get link lights. I attempted a normal serial connection with 9600 baud, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, and no parity/flow control. How do I connect to the 2808 with a terminal session? Thanks. I am using Putty as the emulator.

Thank you Josh,
I went back and forth between the modes a few times before I was able to get in. Not only did I change all of the ports into different VLANs, but I also changed the IP address to the switch. I attempted to make a connection with the default IP address by trying every switch and eventually one worked. I was able to get to the reset page and reset the device. I appreciate your guidance and patience through this process. The switch is good now and working.
