net view not seeing PC's in the other vlans on 6224

You shouldn't have to do anything on the switches, because your switches only work at layer 2 and 3. Netview uses either DNS or Netbeui to translate the computer names. These two protocols are higher layer protocols, Netbeui being at the session layer and DNS being at the application layer. They both need to be encapsulated into TCP/IP. What setup to you have? Are you using Active Directory or other type of DNS, or WINS server?

Correct, we have a 6224 runing layer-3 and the 5324 switches runninglayer-2.

I put this command on the vlans for the 6224 and it resolved the problem.

ip redirbcast

We do have dns, and wins.

Hmmm.. I've never seen that command. I do see ip netdirbcast as a command.  I have 5 vlans and am able to see all of my computers with net view. I don't have this command in my config at all for my vlans. Anyway, glad to hear you resolved the issue.

nlspears,

Your correct the command did not fix the problem. Not sure why I was able to see the other PC's in the other vlan with NET VIEW. Now we are back to the same situation, cannot see PC's in another VLAN.

I can ping a PC in the other vlan, I can run a network scanner and it gets the mac, and computer name plus IP, for the other segment.

Just not sure what in the 6224 could be keeping the NET VIEW command from not working, it does show the segment that I am in, all the PC's and servers, just not the other segment PC's

Thanks
