Powerconnect 6248P - cannot connect to web interface.

Hello,

First post for me on the community forums!

I just updated the firmware on my switch to 3.3.18. I ran the setup wizard and everything seems to be working fine.I can successfully ping the switch from my network. I am not able to connect to the Dell web interface though, it just always says connection refused. When entering show ip interface management is has NONE for Configured IPv4 Protocol. Is that the problem, and how would I fix this? Everything else is as expected on that output like the ip, gateway, subnet.

Thanks!

Hi,

Try generating an https certificate and enabling https, newer browsers are going to want to use https. Page 1347 https://dell.to/3ehR7x9

Hello,

After running that I get...

Error: Could not activate the specified Certificate.

Also when trying to enable ip https server i get...

Secure HTTP could not be enabled.

Any ideas?

Did you sort this out?? I just did the same thing. Switch has been fine for years but I upgraded the Firmware to 3.3.18 and now I cant get into the GUI. All my vLANS etc are all fine - just can't get back into the GUI.

Why Dell why?!?!?! I knew I shouldn't have updated the Firmware ...

Hi, thanks for choosing Dell. This is quite normal when upgrading to a higher code.

Enable HTTPS/SSH and disable HTTP/Telnet for switch management on PowerConnect 6200 series switches.
Please configure on switch to access WEB GUI.

I was able to eventually get through the web interface. It turns out that the system was not ready yet. I have 2 1 TB drives in a RAID-1 configuration, and it took the best part of 2 days to get into shape.

Once I was, I updated the firmware, and things seem to be working very well now.
