Problems Connecting Cisco 2950 & powerConnect 6224F

Hi Team

I have one problem of connection.

I try connect a 6224F (SFP 1 Gb) to a Cat 2950 (Gbic 1 GbaseSX) using a dark fiber but nothing happens.

Change transceiver, move to another ports of 6224 but nothing happens

Not use vlan , trunk or port channel, only basic connectivity

The Transceiver that use on Pw6224F are P/N  FTLF8519P2BNL-(FC), I have a suspect is it transceiver ok?

Regards.

PS: After I Connected the Cat 2950 to a Cisco 3750X (close to 6224F) using the same dark Fiber and same configuration and and ping countinuously function properly.

This C3750X and the 6224F are connect by a channel trunk to 10 Gbps and function properly.

Hi Team

I have made a troubleshooting. Connecting directly with a 3 m fiber directly patch cord a Cisco 2960 (2 links) and a Cisco 2950 to a PC6224F

The firmware on 6224F is 3.3.3.3

The 6224F config ports are

interface ethernet 1/g1
description 'planta_uno'
switchport mode trunk
switchport trunk allowed vlan add 1,206
exit
!
interface ethernet 1/g2
description 'planta_dos'
switchport mode trunk
switchport trunk allowed vlan add 1,206
exit
!
interface ethernet 1/g3
description 'planta_tres'
switchport mode trunk
switchport trunk allowed vlan add 1,206
exit

and the cisco config (both devices) ports are:

interface GigabitEthernet0/47
 switchport trunk allowed vlan 1,206
 switchport mode trunk
 media-type sfp

interface GigabitEthernet0/48
 description Enlaces troncales (bkp)
 switchport trunk allowed vlan 1,206
 switchport mode trunk
 media-type sfp
...

interface GigabitEthernet0/1
 switchport trunk allowed vlan 1,206
 switchport mode trunk

Ok

Ports 1/g1,1/g2 goes to C2960

Port 1/g19 goes to C2950

Port 1/xg3 go to C3750X

- On configuration switchport mode general, currently function on mode trunk on port 1/xg3 What´s difference?

I have read similar case in this following link, could be ok but I´m confused because the config on 1/xg3 function properly and configurate on trunk link. What´s diffence?

PS: All The connected port transceiver lights come on.

I had push the config below in 1/g1,1/g2 and 1/g19 but no functions,

sw"...itchport mode general

switchport general allowed vlan add 1,206 tagged

switchport general pvid 1..."

I try make a ping to a C2950 and a C2960G but not function.

I have made a simple configuration with ports on sw mode access in cisco and dell switches and not function.

I´m thinking about i could be a question of transceivers.

What can I do?

Regards.

I haven´t more transceiver than check the availability, I use to troublehooting the cli command.

6224STACK#show fiber-ports optical-transceiver

(with this command the switch was hanged and need to switch off several times)

In red colour, the ports 1/g1-1/g2 cat2960, 1/g19 cat 2950, there is 2/xg3 with a cisco 3750x on 10 Gbps but function properly, the problem is isolated to 1 Gb links.

I have bought 10 transceivers from the same model but not functions.

Because they don´t  function and I want that Dell change this form others.

I´m surprised with this issue. Probably think on mind on future in the case to offer more Dell switches to my customers.

Hi.

The cisco optics transceiver are Classic Cisco GBIC in C2950 and compatible transceiver on C2960S.

But they function properly between Cisco switches,Not problem.

That transceiver are Customer property and I had changed this for others but nothing changes. Happen the same case.

The question is isolated to 6224F

In the other hand, I had downloaded the firmware right now, study and try upgrade switches ASAP.

Regards.

Right now, the problem is solved

- Transceiver is ok

-Updated the 6224F to 3.3.8.3 release.

- After, I Changed the configuration port  on interface 10G from trunk mode to general mode. This interface is connected to backbone ws-C3750X

I think the general mode is the standard correctly to connect all Cisco Switches.

The trunk mode function depending on the Cisco switch type but not passing ip traffic correctly.
