Remove Port From Native Vlan / PC 5224

I'm having a hard time assigning VLANs on my PowerConnect 5224.  I can't seem to remove ports from Vlan1 to save my life.  I want specifically to place et 1/1 and 1/22 in vlan 20.  I want et 1/22 to be a .1q trunk-port to aggrigate multiple vlan's yet to be configured.

I've tried "no switchport native vlan 1" and "switchport allowed vlan remove 1" and any other combination I can think of to remove this port from vlan 1 but I can't seem to make it work.  I get something similar to Failed to remove from egress list on ethernet 1/22.

Typing conf -> int eth 1/22 -> switchport native vlan 20 gives me

Vty-0(config-if)#switchport native vlan 20
Failed to set pvid on ethernet 1/22

Attached is my config.  How can I remove 1/22 and 1/1 from vlan 1?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If ethernet 1/1 will be an untagged port on VLAN 20, the configuration you would use would be:

(config-if)# switchport allowed vlan add 20
(config-if)# switchport native vlan 20
(config-if)# switchport allowed vlan remove 1

For ethernet 1/22, you usually would not want to remove VLAN 1 on an 802.1q trunk. If you do, you will not be able to manage the switch across the trunk. The native VLAN for a trunk port must be the same on both switches. Unless you have modified it on the other switch, the native VLAN for a trunk is usually VLAN 1 (the typical management VLAN for the switch). The configuration I would suggest on interface 1/22, would be:

(config-if)# switchport allowed vlan rem 20
(config-if)# switchport allowed vlan add 20 tagged

All other VLANs that will be trunked would be added as tagged on this port as well.

FYI... A port cannot be tagged on its native VLAN. On a trunk port, the native VLAN is understood to be tagged. Therefore, you want to configure the native VLAN as untagged and all other VLANs tagged.

OK. Thanks.  I made the suggested changes, but if I read the config right, eth 1/22 still sends frames on Vlan1 as untagged.  How do I make all VLANs tagged going out 1/22?

My feeble efforts at this have been unsucsessfull.

Vty-0(config-if)#switchport allowed vlan add 1 tagged
Failed to remove untaged list on ethernet 1/22

Vty-0(config-if)#switchport allowed vlan remove 1
Failed to remove from egress list on ethernet 1/22

I must misunderstand native vlans.  1/22 should be tagging all vlans. 1,20 and any other I decide to create.  How do I make the port above belong to vlan 1 and 20 and tag all frames?

You can configure the port to accept only tagged frames using the "switchport acceptable-frame-type tagged" command.
