Removing a switch from a stack

Question

hi there, I've removed 4 switches from a stack and renumbered the remaining members. However I can't see how to remove the stack entries from sh run. Can anyone advise how to do this? all i get when i do this is   Could not remove switch as it is an active member of stack

Which switch is giving you issues, and what firmware is it on? I'd be happy to try to assist, if you'd like.

If the stacks cabling is in a ring topology, you can just unplug the unit to leave the stack. The unconfiguring a member function is meant to remove deprecated members from the config which are no longer part of the stack, which is why you were seeing that.
