Stacking woes with N1548 switches
I am having trouble stacking my new N1548 switches. I have changed the status on two fiber ports on each of two switches to be "stack" using "stack-port tengigabitethernet 1/0/3 stack" and added the "boot auto-update-sw" command on both. The "show switch stack-port" command shows te1/0/3 and 4 on both switches as "stack". Turned both of the switches off and inserted Dell sfp 1GB single mode tranceivers in te1/0/3 of one and te1/0/4 of the other. Rebooted one switch and inserted a single mode jumper. Booted the second switch and no link light on either switch, nor any console messages.
What am I missing?

Yes, that is what it looks like, it is so that there is enough bandwidth. They work with 1Gb transceivers in Ethernet mode but not stacking mode.

Hi,
On page 189 of the manual it states "Dell Networking N1500 Series switches stack up to four units using 10GB Ethernet links configured as stacking" SFP is only 1Gb. Try taking them out of stacking mode and testing to see if they will pass traffic that way.

The ports can pass traffic in ethernet mode, just not when in stack mode. I have already read the manual starting page 189, and have done as I thought it required. The 10GB ports are the only sfp ports and can be used with 1GB transceivers for traffic. Are you saying they have to be 10GB sfp+ for stacking?

The 10 GB transceivers work for stacking. Too bad it has to be 10 GB; 1 GB links would be more than adequate for this stack and I have lots of 1GB sfps.
