STP on PC2124, PC2508 & PC2608

I have a network with several Dell managed switches (3348, 5224 & 5324's)co-existing with a few 'non-managed' switches (2124, 2508, 2608). Some managed switches are running STP and others RSTP. My question is, do the non-managed switches form part of the spanning tree, i.e. can they place ports in a blocking or forwarding state, or do they just place all ports in a forwarding state?

I believe that unmanaged switches do not participate in STP but they will flood BPDU so if they are in between switches that do support STP it should work just fine.  So I believe the unmanaged switch neither put a port into block nor forward states since they know nothing about STP and will do nothing with the info.

Cuong.

Thanks - that's great, you've confirmed pretty much what I thought. Cheers.
