Voip on Dell 2724

Normal 0 21 false false false ES X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4

Hi,

I have a mixed environment with a Cisco Catalyst 2950 switch and a Dell Powerconnect  2724,  two VLAN’s: the VLAN 1 for data and the VLAN21 for voice and one DHCP for data on the VLAN1 and another DHCP for voice in VLAN21.

I have been able to configure a trunk port between both switches with a “switchport mode trunk” on a Cisco switch and putting VLAN Membership to a T on VLAN 21 on a Dell switch port.

I have also configured a Dell switch port to connect an IP Phone with success putting in the VLAN Port Settings menu the PVID to 21 and in the VLAN Membership menu the VLAN 21 to U.

All the ports on the Dell switch works fine with a PC on VLAN1. (With VLAN 21 to empty in the VLAN Membership menu and the PVID 1)

My problem is when I have to connect an IP Phone and then a computer to a IP phone switch. I have read that I have to put the PVID to 1 and the VLAN 21 to T on the VLAN Membership but it does not work because the IP Phone takes the DHCP on the VLAN1.

I would like to translate the next cisco port configuration to the dell port:

interface GigabitEthernet0/33

 switchport mode access

 switchport voice vlan 21

Is there something I’m missing to configure?

Thanks

Auto-reply: Finally the problem was on the VLAN ID on the Cisco IP Phone. It detects by CDP and I had to put it manually.

Thanks!
