X-Series DHCP Server lease limits
I can't find anywhere in the documentation the maximum number of addresses that the built-in DHCP server can lease. I know on some Dell switches it's very small (like only 256 address on the N-series). I am able to create a pool with over 8000+ address, but I don't want to start using it and then find out later that I can't actually use that many addresses.

For anyone who might be interested, I wrote a script to test the limit on DHCP server leased addresses for the switch. The limit is 512 addresses for the entire DHCP server (that includes all pools).

The CLI on these X-series switches seems to have extremely limited functionality. This is very sad because I've found the CLI to be great on all other Dell PowerConnect and Force10 switches that I have used. Given that the config files appear to be fairly standard command syntax for Dell switch, I don't understand why these commands can't be executed directly from the CLI. This is especially frustrating because the Web GUI also requires a lot of drilling down into submenu's to navigate. Also there are some settings that can only be applied to 1 port at a time, so it can require hundreds of steps just to apply a single setting to multiple ports. The documentation even mentions applying settings to groups, but then the instructions don't show how to do it and it doesn't look like this was actually implemented (example, VLAN or port profile settings). Is there a reason for this CLI limitation? Can we expect either of these things to change in a firmware update soon?

Hi,
The limited CLI is how it is supposed to be. The limit of DHCP addresses is not published, but it is most likely not more than an N series switch.

Okay, fair enough about the CLI.
But what about the GUI being unable to apply VLAN or port profiles settings to port ranges or even globally? The User Guide documentation says you should be able to do this - example on pg. 159: "Port profiles can be applied to a specific interface, a range of interfaces, or globally." I'm using an X1052, so we're talking about 52 ports that need setting changes and at a rate of about 60-90 seconds to make the changes in the GUI for each port, we're talking about hours of work for something that should take a couple minutes...
As for the DHCP limit...guess I'll have to script a test and find out for myself what the limit is...
