AT&T high speed internet and new Dell PC with modem included

I have AT&T high speed internet via a DSL line. My new Dell Inspiron 546 desktop PC came with a modem included. Can I set up the AT&T to use the internal modem included with my PC, instead of the separate modem originally sent to me by AT&T/Yahoo a few years ago? I didn't know if the newer modem might be better and easier ? I am not very computer saavy, so sorry if this seems like a basic or dumb question to some.

 hrproinindy,

The internal modem is for dialup and is slow. Your DSL connection should be faster.

Does your ATT modem/router have wireless capabilities?

Try running Finding System Information and at the bottom it will tell your  etwork adapters. Please post that information back here.

The DSL modem is completely different from the dial-up modem in your desktop PC.

If you want to use the dial-up modem you certainly can, if you enjoy slow browsing speeds.
