bluetooth drivers fail to install.

xps 410 running win 7 64bit cannot get usb bluetooth adapters to work.  latest attempt is a micro innovations usb60bt that a Fry's salesman demonstrated in the store with an HP notebook.  took it home and three drivers fail to install correctly:

bluetooth hands-free audio

bluetooth remote control

bluetooth L2cap interface.

None of these gave problems when the guy installed it (plugged it in) in fry's; it immediately was able to pair with my BB 8900.  Since upgrading the XPS to win 7 have not been able to pair it to anything.  Any ideas?  Is the bleeping bios that is no longer supported out-dated?

I've tried my trusty old Belkin, a new IOGEAR class 1 and the latest, USB60BT by micro innovations class 1.

Thanks!

I doubt very much the bios is a problem.

I have a 1720 and just got bluetooth working with 7x64. I used dell's 64 bit xp/vista drivers. I tried several times over the course of a month. It turns out all I needed to do was reboot the computer after installing the drivers.

Try that out. Install the drivers, reboot, plug it in. Or plug it in before you reboot.

    Hi Relativityboy,

Did not work for me.  My pc is an xps 410/dimension 910.  I have rebooted close to a dozen times with three different bt devices. They all seem to fail in loading drivers for three or four bt services.  I can locate the PC from my blackberry but cannot connect to it.  The PC never offers the option to enter the pairing passcode.  The PC can't discover anything from 'add device'.  The last bt adapter I've tried is an iogear.  It comes with its own drivers.  Windows instists on loadint ITS drivers though, which fail.  Very frustrating.

I was able to prevent Windows from automatically installing its driver set.  Re-installed vendor (Widcom) drivers and reboot.  Discovery fails.  Pairing with Bberry fails.  There is no response from the Dell.  Will call iogear tech support this evening. Will check BIOS settings tonight as well.  Any one else have any ideas that I haven't tried yet?

The Broadcom website provides the Widcom software.  Their's loaded differently, but the end result was the same: PC not pairable and can not discover other BT devices.
