Cannot enable wireless switch on Latitude D600

hello all,
i have a latitude d600, was windows 2000 but have recently loaded XP SP2, plus all drivers from original cd. have an intel(r) pro/wireless lan 2100 3a mini pci adaptor which shows 'radio off' permanently, and nothing i do can change it.
there is no physical wireless switch, i have tried device manager but this tells me it is enabled.
have tried right-click on icon (with red no entry against it), this gives me option to switch radio off, which i do, then when i switch on again i get msg 'the intel pro/wireless lan 2100 mini pci adapter is still disabled. press fn+f2 to enable it'. but pressing fn+f2 does nothing.
if i go into wireless connections window and click on 'create a new connection' and try to view available wireless connections, i get msg that there are none, which i assume is due to my wireless switch being off, as there is a wireless connection.
any suggestions gratefully received, thanks.

u can uninstalling reinstalling the drivers of the card(control panel > add remove prog> intel wireless software ) then reinstall the drivers from here.

see if it works if not then try reseating it( call up tech support  if u face problem)

( the 1 that says mini card in this page is the wireless card)

if these doesnt work then buy a wireless usb or pci adapter...

Is the wireless adapter turned on (enabled) in in the bios?

Dumb question maybe but it's happened here where I work.
