Cannot see another computer
hi,
I have one Windows XP Home Edition computer (Computer A) and one Windows 98 computer (Computer B) which are connected to internet by using a Linksys router and want to share a printer which from computer A.
Right now, computer A can see and access all share folders in computer B. However, computer B cannot see computer A by clicking the Network Neighborhood. There is only the name of computer B in computer B when open the Network Neighborhood.
I used the Windows XP network wizard to set up the networking in computer A, and used the Windows XP CD disc to set up the networking in computer B. Both printer and internet were power on, and no error message during the process.
Is there any step I have missing, your suggestion is appreciated.
Joey

Thanks for your prompt response.
However, after disable the XP firewall, the problem is still exist.
Any other suggestion is appreciated.

I had a similar problem. Two 98SE computer worked fine together, but once the Xp machine was started, the 98 PCs couldn't see anything on the network (although they did still have Internet access via the router). The problem was not the Xp firewall, but the McAfee Personal Firewall+ that came with the PC. Once I set it to trust the block of IP addresses that the router issues to my PCs, then it all worked fine. So look closer for any other firewall that may be messing up things and dumb it down some, or just for testing purposes disable it entirely.
