Is the router configured to make a wireless connection?  Have you tried checking the configuration by logging on to the router through a wired ethernet connection?  Which make and model router is it?  Did you just replace the electrical cord for the router or did you also replace the power supply?  If the latter, are you sure you got the correct wattage power supply for the router?

thanks for your questions...how do i know if the router is configured..i tried using the ethernet but no luck....
Motorola   model SBG900 (which they no longer make)...i got the electrical cord with power supply 12DV (as written on the bottom of the router) so according to radio shack, it should work....the green lights blink (send/receive)...the other green lights (pcactivity/online) do not blink.........what next steve?????

Just because it's 12 Volts does not mean it will work.  You need to match the output of the power supply in Watts and Amps.
