Well, wireless-G ranges about 150ft. and has data rates up to 54mbps. That is the most common. Then of course there is the new wireless Draft-N and that can reach 300ft. and has a data rate of 270mbps, but only used and needed by gamers and such. I would say go with the wireless-G router. Preferably the Linksys Wireless-G Broadband router is highly recommended. If you decide to go with the wireless-N, get the Linksys Wireless-N Broadband router.
As for MiniCard in your laptop, stick with the 1490 a/b/g card (the 1390 MiniCard isn't too great)if you're going wireless-G. If you're going wireless-N you need the 1500 card.
