Apologies for the appauling typing of the previous message. One other bit of info. The Online Dell Configuration Tester reports that the Bluetooth device is installed despite the BIOS saying otherwise (also I cannot select this item in the BIOS)

TKUK,
Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.
I looked at the system whose service tag is in your profile and found that Bluetooth was included in your system order. I am thinking that is is turned off. Hold the [Fn] and [F2] keys to toggle whether Bluetooth is enabled. You should be able to see this difference in the BIOS. If this task does not work, I recommend updating the system BIOS to the latest available on the Downloads tab (above).

sorry to hear that, tkuk. I've thought BT just was my problem with my D600, now i'm wondering that could be a design defect for D600 since too many stuffs cramed there.I had the Exactly same situation as yours. I had returned my computer twice. and it didn't help a bit. what was even worse is that one of the technicians had me fomat my hard drive once and reinstalled the whole system. Eventually they offered an exchange but i'm worried it will happen again.
DELL, would you guys do some research on it and figure out what's really going on there(not just update BIOS over and over)?

Dell - I think it is time for a bit of feedback as I have searched this Forum and there are a lot of people experiencing this kind of problem with the D600 Bluetooth. What is being done about it?
Answers please !!!

Exact same issue here. Bluetooth was ordered with the machine, worked in the past and now, according to the BIOS (updated to A013), it is not installed and the setting can't be changed. BT light is toggled by Fn-F2. I had the occasional message about an USB device not being properly recognized the last few weeks, maybe that has to do with it? Is the Dell BT card an USB device?
There is another thread saying that you need to physically un-install the BT card, reboot the computer and re-install the BT card. Can you guys from Dell please confirm that this is the only way to get this issue fixed? It's pretty dissappointing that you don't even try to verify a solution a customer found for you.
Thanks,
Michael

Sorry, forgot to update here what happened. We ordered the Dell Service describing the issue and they knew the problem right away. The solution is to replace the motherboard. The Dell technician came in the next day, basically dis-assembled the whole laptop and replaced the motherboard.
According to the technician it is a known issue with all D600 delivered up to June 2004. The problem is a badly designed connector for the Bluetooth card at the front of the motherboard. He showed me that the Bluetooth card was very loosely connected, the new motherboards have a redesigned connector that provides a tighter fit for the card. So I guess the Dell people here on the board knew pretty well what's going on but are probably not allowed to say what the issue is.
Hope you bought the next business day onsite service!

Hi All,
Same issue on my side, Bluetooth worked well on my Latitude D600. Then USB malfunctionned device message came, then bluetooth didn't work anymore. I tried to uninstall then reinstall by using R65891.EXE without any success. Bluetooth device not find as result. No bluetooth device is installed on my computer !!! :-(
Any clues about what happened, how may I reinstall my bluetooth device?
Thanks to all and hope thanks to DELL to give us a solution as it seems that I'm not the only one to suffer such an issue.

I have the same issue with Bluetooth - device is not recognized. I reseated it, but it still doesn't appear in the hardware list. Our company got 4 of the same laptops, and it shows up in hardware only on one of them. The card is there, though, on mine, so I suspect it is there on all of them.
