ethernet controller / driver requirement

Hi,

I've recently had commincation issues between my plotter and autocad program, decided to wipe my entire system clean and reload all the programs from scratch. Plotter and program working fine, but I've lost all the info re the ethernet controllers and drivers for my dimension 4600. Trawled throgh the Dell website and nothing relates back to the 4600 for drivers, does anyone have any useful info that could help me re-install the drivers so that i may access the web once again?
Hope you may be able to help.
many thanks and regards

Mark.

Did you install the chipset drivers as the first drivers installed after reinstallation of Windows? Without the chipset drivers, Windows will not be able to recognize or install drivers for many other devices. Once the chipset drivers are installed you need to install the drivers for your network adapter, video adapter, audio adapter, and modem.

I have the same problem.  Download chipset, installed and rebooted.  Went back to Dell drivers site - no Network drivers for XPS 210.  The only one missing is Ethernet Controller, and can't find that anywhere.

I'd suggest phoning Dell, told them of my problem, they directed me to a url site that had the exact drivers needed, problem solved, for me anyway, hope you have the same results.

Thanks Steve, and apologies for late response, work got in the way.  The downloads from the site worked.  Unable to call Dell over the weekend - they were closed!

QtheBard,

It is very difficult to help you without knowing which model computer you have and which network drivers you need to intsall.  In general, if you click on the Technical Support link at the top of the forum, you can find all drivers by entering your model number or service tag.   On most models it is necessary to install the chipset drivers before installing any other drivers.

I'm having the same problem. I had to completely reload my computer with Windows XP and now my ethernet isn't working. When I look at the device manager it has "ethernet controller" listed with a yellow question mark and exclamation mark. I reloaded the chipset from my orginal resource disk and the Intel 10/100 LOM, but nothing works. My Dell is a Dimension 8250. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

For anyone interested. I have a Dell 3100c and had a problem with the driver for the Ethernet Controller after a drive format. I went to the link above suggested by "Volcano 11" (Thanks) and downloaded the Diagnostics Utility found there. I ran that and the problem vanished.
