Since you have a router, why not use the router to share the internet connection (i.e. connect the computer directly to the router) rather than use the clunky internet connection sharing?
The router is a floor below me. It would take about 50 feet of ethernet cable to connect it. I guess I could wait for a sale and buy another wireless PCI card, but I am mostly interested in getting this computer updated and giving it to my parents for christmas. They have an old Pentium 2 and really only need a computer for browsing the internet, Word and financial programs. Unfortunately even the Pentium 2 is having a hard time with that these days. I would just like to have it all updated before I give it to them. If anyone has any ideas about getting the internet connection sharing to work, it would be interesting to get it to work, even from just a learning standpoint.
Went to CompUSA today and bought a wireless-G card for 10 dollars. Big sale today apparently. So I guess I don't need to use ICS (which didn't work with the DNS and gateway fields blank either). Still, it would be interesting to learn how to get it to work. Thanks for all the help volcano11, your help and the help of others in other threads on this forum helped me get the file sharing working at least.
