Intel 2915 Wireless problem... and Dell support problem...
So, I just got my XPS Gen 2 the beginning of last week and I must say first that I am loving it. It's a wonderful machine...
The Intel Wireless card however is anything but wonderful.
I am having problems with download speeds atm. I am currently getting around 500KBs when I should be getting 3MBs. I have tried different routers but that doesnt seem to help at all, have tried using pci cards and they work fine so its something to do with the Intel card or its drivers. I have tried about 4-5 different drivers for the card including the ones from Dell. I have tried formatting, installing the drivers with the intel software, installing the drivers without the intel software. I have tried taking the wireless card out and putting it back in. Really, I cant think of much else to do and neither can the techs but they swear up and down its a software/driver issue and not a hardware one. I think I agree with them since I personally know at least 5 other people who have an intel card (either the 2915 or 2200) and have the same problem.
I have also tried to contact Intel but they wont help me since its OEM and said I need to speak with Dell.
The main issue I am having is not even that the card is acting funny but rather that Dell support is...
Everyone I have talked to swears that Dell software support WILL be able to fix the problem for me. However, I REFUSE to pay for software support since this is not my fault. I can see if this issue just came up, if it was something I caused, or because of something I put on the computer but it has been acting up since DAY ONE of getting this laptop and I wont pay for anything that should be covered through Dell.
Is there anyone that can help me either fix this problem or get a software tech to speak with me?
The other reason I dont want to speak with a software tech is I dont even think they can help, which if they cant I just paid for support that did nothing for me and that I shouldnt have had to pay for in the first place.
Anyone have some suggestions?
Thanks
