rhpt

Did you also go to "Configure" and CLEAR that checkbox "allow power off" so that the adapter's power is always full ?

I received my E1505 last week, and I am noticiting the same thing with the Dell minicard. I've got the Windows Firewall turned off and the system is fully patched, sitting behind a netgear wireless router. My other laptop is hardwired to the router and its speed is normal. My wife's laptop is also wireless, and its speed is normal. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

To change just one thing, independent of the router itself have you tried simply turning off Windows firewall and any internet security software on the new laptop? Also, make sure you have run ALL Windows updates (there will be two or three dozen on a brand new system).

I called the dell tech support and had a talk with them for more than an hour ..... they decided to send me the new card ...... i got it today ...... It takes less than 10 minutes to take the old card out and put the new one in ....   ..... It works now ....fast down load speed .... and connect with WPA2 security.  Thank you to all.

How did you convice them to send you a new card? NOBODY I've to whom I've spoken has even remotely agreed it might be a hardware problem.

You may want to check out the router.  I received my 1505 3 days ago.  Spent several hours trying to figure out why my intel 3945 was working 1/4 the speed of my older laptop & pc that connect in through a 3yr old Linksys router.  Changed all power settings, etc. and nothing worked.  Finally went out and purchased new Linksys router & installed tonight.  Speed is outstanding.

Called dell support last night and they were helpful (if you can make it through the numerous restarts they put you through).  They recommended the new router even though I didn't think that was the issue.

Everything else on the 1505 working great.

I finally got them to send me the Intel card after threatening to return the laptop. The new card works great.

I went thru the same speed( < 20 kb - 30 kb) problems with my inspiron E1505 - Intel PRO/3945 wireless card. I am ready to replace my router but I am not sure which router I should go for. I don't want to run into same problem with my new router.

Please reply with all the routers that seems to be working with E1505 Intel PRO/3945 card.

In response to another post of mine, one person got rid of speed problems by decreasing the 'Fragmentation Threshold' value to 2047 rather than 2346 or 2347

Have you tried using Intel's latest driver? I had a bunch of problems connecting to D-link and Belkin access points with WEP/WPA encryption with the latest dell driver.I now have 10.1.0.6 and I can connect fine.

Somewhere in the configuration of your wireless there is a long table containing many settings in a list. In the list, the name of the setting is on the left. As you move down the list from one to the next name, the possible settings appear in another list to the right.
There are actually TWO threshold settings and the values I have seen are 2046 for the 'fragmentation' and 2047 for the other.
I think the person who made the change (clearing up the problems) did it only to the first of the two.
Does Windows manage yours?
On the systems I see, there are a number of variations. That and the fact that I have no wireless system at hand to examine are my excuses for vagueness.
Be adventurous.
Begin either at 'Show network connections' and then do a complete exploration of wireless settings OR begin with RIGHT click at the system tray and 'Display all wireless networks' and work your way from there OR RIGHT-click 'My Computer' and get to HARDWARE and device manager, configure, etc.

I have upgraded to new Intel PRO/3945 driver and also upgraded my Linksys wireless-B router firmware to latest version but still having the same speed issues.

How would I reduce the threshhold level ?
