Intel Wireless card

My Dell Inspiron 6000 (delivered August 2005) developed a problem which I resolved by reinstalling Windows XP Home Edition (SP2)

I am in the process of reinstalling software etc. I connected to the Internet through using Windows Wireless Utility. My laptop has an Intel Wireless Card installed which was supplied by Dell. I have always used this card to connect to the Internet and would like to reinstall. I know which drivers to download from the Dell Drivers website. I want to be able to control connect/disconnect using the Fn/F2 keys and to have the wireless antenna icon appear on the desktop as a result to show connection/turnoff.

Please advise what I need to do to ensure that the Windows Wireless Utility is turned off, so as to not cause a conflict with the Intel drivers. I do not want to remove the Windows facility as this would seem a good backup option.

Thank you

David
