LOST INTERNET CONNECTION
I have a dimension 2400 with XP home edition. A couple of days ago I lost my internet access.. My other computer is connected via dsl and a wireless router. After talking to the dsl and microsoft tech support, I tried pinging some web sites with no success. I did the start>run>cmd>ipconfig and got back 0.0.0.0 for an IP address. Next I tried all of the Dell F12 tests and no errors were reported. I did start>control panel>system>hardware>device manager and got a blank white screen with no devices. The bottom tool bar is white instead of blue. I need your help as I don't know what to do next. I also switched out the ethernet cables.

slopok1,
Have you tried using System Restore to restore your computer to a state it was in when the internet connection worked?

I did, but unfortunately i did a complete reformat yesterday and the restore would only revert back to this morning as it needs complete 24 hour periods before the clock begins ticking.
I did restore to the point at which XP began updating, but it still doesn't work. Interestinly I can ping certain ip addresses and have it work. The card connects every several seconds and then drops back out. Canlt figure it out. I'm refomatting again out of desperation.
