message stating network interface disconnected

Question

Just got a new Dell Dim E 521.  It keeps giving me a message stating that the Integrated 10/100 ethernet is disconnected.  to 'replace/connect cables and reconnect'.  Under device manager, it says it is working properly. I don't know why it would be disconnected or how to 'reconnect' it. Help.

I assume the reason you get the message is you don't use the Ethernet connection because you are using wireless or dialup.  In that case, simply doubleclick on the icon that is giving you the message then click on Disable or if you rather leave it running you can click on Properties then uncheck the two boxes at the bottom then OK.
