Modem

Please help!!  I have a laptop with a wireless router and a cable modem.  There is a desktop downstairs and I would like to hook it up to get the internet connection without having to pay an additional service for the internet.  How can I do this?  Also, the desktop already has a cable modem, but it isn't hooked up.

If you have a wireless router, it should be able to accept more than one PC and it should have a connection to the Cable Modem.  If this is the case, all you need is a wireless unit that is compatible with the wireloess router which will connect to the desktop PC.  That should get both access using the same Cable connection.  You do not need the second Cable modem.

That sounds great!! Thank you very much, but I have one more question:  I have a wireless router that is connected to my cable modem.  Do I need another cord of some kind to connect my desktop computer to my wireless router?

Ok so, I have a wireless router that I bought from Dell and it has 3 Lan ports and I also have a cable modem.  I need to connect my desktop computer to my wireless router, but I do not know what wire is needed to do that.  Can you help please?  Thank you

It's called an "ethernet cable". Ends look like a telephone connector except larger. Connects to your puter ethernet card to a LAN port on a router. Or, if you go wireless, you'll need a PCI adapter card to install in your puter. Has an antenna on the card whichs communicates (wireless) with your router. Wireless PCI adapter card will run about $20 and up. Maybe this will help-----go here.
