Does your computer even recognize that the modem is installed (and with the right drivers)?

If you're not able to solve it that way, check your computer's hardware using the Device Manager (Cight click on My Computer and select properties. On the Hardware tab, select Device Manager). Under the Modems category, there should be your modems name listed. If their isn't, or something has a yellow explanation mark next to it, perhaps the drivers aren't installed, which in that case, you'll need to.

I've never heard of a specific modem not working for a certain ISP (with dial-up, anyway). Also, make certain your ISP software is set to use that modem to attempt to make the connection.

It would be helpful to know... What modem you have (model, manufacturer), what software you are using for modem on hold, and what it is doing when you try to use it...

Some things to know...

1.) Make sure call waiting is not disabled when dialing your ISP. (this is sometimesdone by default to prevent the call waiting from kickiing in and killing your iinterent connection)

2.) Make sure the MOH software is enabled.

3.) Make sure you ISP supprts MOH (just because they are V. 92 does not mean they support MOH)
