I recently had to reinstall the original operating system on a dell dimension 4600, after everything was complete I noticed that I could not connect to the internet. The network adapters icon is completely missing within the device manager. I found drivers disc however, once I install it I still get nothing. If I want to download the drivers I need to save it on the destop so I can use a thumb drive to transfer it. The problem I run into here is the website prompts you to install right away when my goal is to download. Does anyone have an ideas or thoughts on the issue?
It could be the the Dell Download Manager itself trying to install - not the drivers.
To clear out the Download Manager and used just the browser download, remove the Dell Download Manager from Add/Remove (if it's listed), then clear the browser's cookies and temporary files to remove it as a default option - more FAQ's below. Then you should be able to go back to the page and use the second regular browser download option to get each file - don't try to add them to a list, just get them one at a time.

I have no problems being able to download instead of installing. Not sure what you are doing.
