Hi Thirdpole,

On this issue you're having I am thinking it is related to a recent Windows update that caused this. What you will need to do is click on the search bar (on the task bar or in the start button menu) and type in: command prompt (this should appear immediately as an option to select once you type com from the choice of programs). Once you load up the command prompt you will need to type the commands in below and hit enter after each bullet point to run the command:

• netsh winsock
• netsh int ip reset
• ipconfig /release
• ipconfig /renew
• ipconfig /flushdns

Once you have run the last command you should be able to get back online, once you're online run Windows update again to get the latest update which should correct this issue from occurring again.

I hope this helps but let me know if you have any trouble.

Best regards,

Brad

Hi Thirdpole,

Thanks for the updates! You will want to carefully type these commands in, for example on the first command when the computer states "'netsch' is not recognised as an internal or external command" that means it was typed wrong, this is because the command is netsh and not netsch, unfortunately the commands have to be very specific in this prompt.

The other thing I forgot to mention (and I apologize for this) is that you will want to right click on the command prompt icon (before opening it) and then left click the option to "run as administrator" before opening it. Unfortunately most of these commands were prevented from running (as per the admin rights), so when you get a chance please try this again and let me know if it helps. After these commands are run your system should be able to get back online so you can further update Windows to correct this issue.

Best regards,

Brad

Hello Brad,

Thank you again! Sorry to find that I have typed it wrong. However, this time I tried the command again very carefully.

Please check the following things pops up after hitting the command. And I am really hoping to hear from you very soon! I'm really desperate without being able to connect to internet.

Sorry for the delay in response, I unfortunately missed your reply. Can you try using an ethernet cable hooked up from your computer to the modem/router and then try these commands as an admin again? I would like to see if your system can get online using this method and then try applying the Windows updates manually (and afterwards go back to WiFi).

If this does not work please Private Message me your Service Tag (please do not post it in this thread).

Best regards,

Brad

Hi,

I am facing the same issue. If I connect through Ethernet, internet connection is working. But, when I try to through Wi-Fi, my computer is not able to detect the available networks.

Mine is Dell Inspiron 3437, OS WIndows 10, and Wi-fi driver is Dell Wireless 1705 802.11 B/g/n (2.4GHZ).

I tried the above mentioned solution but, still facing the issue.

Please help!

Hi PNDJATIN,

I failed to solve my problem with given command and had to call Dell engineers (fortunately I still under warranty) and he changed a chip inside my laptop. So, Whether you are under warranty or not, I'll suggest you to call customer care service and make an appointment for onsite service. A Dell engineer will come to your place and fix it.

I hope it helps!
