As stated in my signature below, I'm not on a network.  This is one computer connected to one printer and it is not wireless.

No - you need to explain.  Connecting a printer to the USB port on a computer does not connect it to the internet!!!.  Are you trying to share your printer over your local network?  If so, you need to explain how your network is set up.

Now you are getting closer to explaining your problem.  Maybe with just a few more details we can start to help.  When you say your computer doesn't print when you are on the internet, what exactly does this mean?  Does it mean that it will not print from any program when you are connected to the internet or does it mean it will not print a web page.   Are you ever not connected to the internet (in other words do you ever actually shut off your dsl modem or unplug the connection between your computer and the dsl modem)?  What kind of connection does your computer have to the dsl modem?  Under what conditions (exactly) does your printer work?

I am trying to get my printer to print when I am on the internet.  I figure there must be a missing or corrupted file that connects the printer to the internet when I am online.  A system file of some sort.

Cannot print email.  Cannot print web pages.  Can print from wordperfect.  Can connect printer to my other computer and it will print everything.

Yes, I unplug my computer and modem often.

Please answer ALL of my questions!!!  First, I really need to know how your computer connects to the dls modem - it is by USB or ethernet??????  Second, althought it is highly unusual for someone to disconnect a dsl modem, when it is disconnected, can you print your email?  If you load a web page and then disconnect your computer from the internet, can you print the web page?  These questions are designed around basic troubleshooting steps, so please try to provide a bit of help from your end.

I really don't understand.  If you have one computer and on printer and you are not on a network, then what is it you are trying to do?  A USB printer cannot be accessible on the internet because it does not have an IP address.

Try downloading and installing the latest drivers for your printer from the following site:

Note it should be the second one in the list.

Uninstalled and reinstalled drivers and checked for updates from Cannon last week and it did not help, but will do it again tommarrow.

The link you provided did not work.

Thanks for all the advice, but I've got to get to bed.

Thanks for the help.

Got my problem fixed.  Apparently there was a corrupted file in IE7.  Reinstalled IE7 and printer works fine.
