It could be a number of things, but I think you should

1. try another PCMCIA device in that slot to see if there is a problem with the hardware.

2. When a windows machine says it cannot allocate the resources for the device, it is telling you that another device is using those resources or that the connection to the specific device is not complete. Does the light come on on the device?

3. If it shows in safe mode, try removing the device in safe mode and booting without the card in the machine and then installing the card again. It sounds redundant but that might work.

4. Get another adapter......sorry that would be the last resort.

Hope this helps :emotion-2:

Please provide a bit of history. Did this product work before with your Inspiron 6000?

The red light comes on while it's booting up.  When i uninstalled the device, reboot, replace the adapter it does recognize the new hardware and installs it.

I'll try to get another adapter.

Any other ideas?  If another device is using the resource how do I find out what it is?

Thanks.

Yes, it worked in the past.  Haven't used it in awhile because my husbands daughter borrowed it for school.  She didn't use it on the network, only for local application.

DottieSuper,

Error 10, is that the device drivers are a problem. Did you take out the card, un-install the drivers. Then restart your computer and install the new drivers. Then insert the card. If the card does NOT still work, then try restarting your computer with the card in ONLY after the drivers were installed.

What happenss?

What do you see in the Device Manager?

Do you have Office Live Meeting 2005 installed?

Tried all your suggestions and still does not work.  I booted in safe mode without the card inserted and uninstalled the drivers, then booted normal, installed the drivers, inserted the card and it still acts the same.  Yellow ! next to the device in device manager with the same status (10)

No Live Meeting installed.

Guess I'll try and dig up another adapter to see what happens unless there are any other suggestions.  Thanks for you time.
