upgrading wireless

Question

I want to upgrade from an internal card with a higher spec external card. Will I have to disable the dell card before I do this or should the computer detect it and ask about changing settings. Will the computer ignore the card since I have a working internal card?

Which system is this? desk? notebook? By 'internal' do you mean integrated (into the motherboard)?

Notebook. The wireless that comes with Inspiron 1505s. So, I'm guessing that is integrated. New one should just slide in the card slot.
