What Driver Do I Need!!???

All right, I've been looking through the forum and other places online for days, and I've tried at least 20 drivers at this point.

Here's what happened: My WLAN adapter died, and my grandfather (who repairs computers) had another dell with an apparently matching card in it.  I switched them out, and yet I can't find the right driver to make the new card work.

My laptop is a Dell Inspiron N4010.  The other laptop is a Dell Inspiron M5040.  The hardware IDs of the new card are:

PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_002B&SUBSYS_02051028&REV_01
PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_002B&SUBSYS_02051028
PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_002B&CC_028000
PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_002B&CC_0280

Compatible IDs are:

PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_002B&REV_01
PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_002B
PCI\VEN_168C&CC_028000
PCI\VEN_168C&CC_0280
PCI\VEN_168C
PCI\CC_028000
PCI\CC_0280

It shows up in my Device Manager as "Network Controller", along with a "Generic Bluetooth Adapter" that wasn't there before.  The numbers for the bluetooth bit are:

USB\VID_0CF3&PID_3002&REV_0001
USB\VID_0CF3&PID_3002

(Hardware) and

USB\Class_E0&SubClass_01&Prot_01
USB\Class_E0&SubClass_01
USB\Class_E0
(compatibility).

I'm running windows 7, 64 bit.

PLEASE let me know what my computer needs to make this run.  I've tried running several programs to detect missing drivers, I've tried the hardware diagnostic on Dell's site, I've tried updating from the Device Manager itself, NOTHING. WORKS.  This is very frustrating.

Thank you,

Ellie

Neither of these packages will install.

Do I need to install them in a specific way?

Do you have an error message?

June 19th, 2014 20:00

Kinda.

The first time I tried the first one it tried to install and then gave me a message saying that it can't run on my platform.  I tried it again to double-check the message and it tried to install, then the program just terminated without warning.

The second gave me a message saying "The installer cannot run on this platform.  Please select package for your operating system."

There are subfolders in both locations after the .exe unzips.  Am I installing incorrectly?

The first one should be for Windows 7 and the second one for Windows 8.1.

You can try running the setup.exe from C:\Dell\Drivers\R302026

As your system may be unsupported with this wireless card (its a non-standard configuration) you may need to install via the device manager:

Tried both of those.

It's still not working....looks like the device isn't compatible with my system, I guess.
