Drkanl88,

Using any cordless 2.4GHz phones? They work on the same frequency as your wireless router.

I would check the settings on your wireless adapters. My suspicions are they might have the same ip address, causing the other wireless device to go offline.

Start, control panel, networking and sharing center, click on your network, properties. Look for TCP/IPv4 and TCP/IPv6, then clcik on properties. Make sure it obtains the IP address automatically.

Thanks for the infor PudgyOne, but all my devices are set to do so and the cordless 24Ghz phone is far away from the router base. Thus i dont really see an interference.

Also, its always worked fine before: the only new change is that i added the dell xps 15z to my list of devices...

Drkanl88,

Do you have enough IP addresses to allow all the wireless devicesx on your network. I allow for 50 but have about 15 on my network. If there are not enough ip addresses on your wireless network, this could happen.

Did you try using these Recommended Wireless Router Settings, I use channel 11.

The 2.4 GHz cordless phone can still disconnect your connection. It can be just the phone ringing, or someone of the phone in another room. It's still using the same frequency as the wireless router. If you can answer the cordless phone, then it can disconnect you. The base unit sends the signal.

Thanks again RIck,

But it doesn't solve my problem. Sometimes i get an error message when i use windows to diagnose the problem : it says that the modem / base is having problems connecting to the internet.

My one point is though, that I has NEVER gave me a problem, previous to purchasing this computer....

Also, the phone always worked well, it never disconnected me before, but i do understand that there is the existence of that probability.

This is just frustrating.

I read in a forum that windows 7 might actually have compatibility issues with cable modems / TIme Warner Cable broadband service....and Microsoft just hasn't published that info. as yet.

modernbeta,

What is the make and model of your wireless router? What type of security and what channel are you using?

Can you run an ipconfig /all log and post back here.

debbyd_75,

Try this first...

Dell has Updated Drivers for the Intel 6230 Wireless Networking Adapter

Intel® WiFi Products — Power Save Polling (PSP) causes connection issues with some access points

Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Power Options\Create a Power Plan

Select High performance.

Start, control panel, device manager. Click on Network and then right click on your wireless adapter, left click properties, power management. Uncheck the box, allow computer to turn off this device to save power.

Intel ~ Recommended settings for 802.11n connectivity
