Wireless Internet
Hi everyone,
I have a Dimension 2400 (p2,4 256mb(pc2100)) here with a Wlan PCI card @ 11mbs.
But the internet speed doesnt get over 10kbps while the signal strength is excellent.
So I have formatted the HD and re-installed WinXP + drivers but still no progress.
Also not only internet speed but sometimes the pc doesnt take an IP.
(This has certainly nothing to do with the accesspoint becauze it recovers after restoring to an eralier point)
As comparison I installed the Wlan PCI Card on another pc with these specifications:
Asus A7V266E mobo
AMD Athlon 1900+
2x256 (pc3200)
On this computer the internet speed is above 120kbps.
So I thought maybe becauze of the memory, so I added 1x256mb into the Dimension 2400.
I re-tested the internet speed and this time it was around the 20kbps which is only 10kbps faster then it was.
I really dont understand it anymore.. with cable there is no problem either.
Why is this pc so slow with Wlan?
Thanks in advance,

It's possible that your TCP Receive Window may have been altered. Low window settings will choke your connection speeds.
Check out this website and use the Tweak Tester applet to determine if your settings are the problem.
http://www.dslreports.com/tweaks
The results page will probably suggest the TCP edit program available on that site.
