Wireless Zero Configuration - WZC

I have a dell Inspiron 1300 - When I switch on and try to conect to wireless router the error meesage appears. When I go to the WZC in settings I always have start it. After a few seconds it drops again and I have to start it again. Clearly this is not good. Does anyone know why this would be happening? Has anyone experienced this before?

If you want WZC to run, then Windows must be managing your wirless network, not the the Dell Utility.

If you have the 1370 card, then the utility that comes with that is the Dell Wireless Utility.  Go to Start > All Programs and find the Dell Wireless Utility.  Open it, then make sure that the box to let the uility manage the wireless network is not checked.   Close the utility.  Now go to Network Connections, right click your wireless connection, select Properties, then click on the Wireless Networks tab.  Make sure the box is checked to let Windows manage the wirelesss network.

Which wireless network card do you have in that machine?    Have you tried making sure that the utility that comes with the card (either Dell or Intel ProSet) set to not manage the wireless connection?

When say Utility what do you mean, I am quite IT savey but not sure exactly what that means. On that basis how would I find out what utlity I have got an then how could I use it to confirgure the wireless conection. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Simon

Sorry to be a pain Steve and thanks for your help so far. Do you mean that I want Windows to configure my wirless conection i.e. I should check the box to allow windows to configure or do I let Dell Wireless utility do it. SImon

. If you want WZC then check the box saying let windows manage my network. If you want Dell Wireless WLAN Card Utility program to manage your network then uncheck the box in WZC and check the box in Dell Wireless Program
