Net framework 1.1
This new forum must be the worst change I have ever seen.
Anyway I have a question. Is net framework 1.1 worth keeping? I have two updates that will not download, one from several months ago. can i just delete net framework or get rid of it some way?

You need it if you have any applications that require it - e.g., my XP Media Center edition uses it for the media center functions. But yes, it can be uninstalled.
Without specifics (OS, exact error, and exactly which updates) hard to tell what's wrong, but this may be helpful:
