Computer keeps shutting off.

I have been working at home for a year and a half. I have just retired and turned in my work computer. Now, when I tried to connect my Optiplex 790 for general use, it turns on then shuts off. It keeps trying to start up, but shuts off. The power button shows blue and there are no beeps or warning numbers showing. any help would be great.

first thing to try is replace cmos battery w a brand new one then clear cmos settings on motherboard by reset RTCRST jumper.

Thanks for the reply. I did replace the cmos battery, but didn't reset the jumper. I will do that now.

    thanks

The problem is the power switch has been corroded.  The computer thinks that your manually turning it off because the switch is stock. Simply take it off from the casing and spray it with ELECTRICAL CONTACT CLEANER both the power button and connector end.  If possible blow it with compress air or let it dry for a few minutes before putting it back to the casing.
