Graphics card for 9020 SFF

Question

I have a Dell 9020 Small Form Factor.Specs:i7 - 4790 Processor, 3.6 ghz16 gigs of RAMWindows 10, 64-bitsIt's the original PSU or a refurbished one at 255 watts I've read several of the similar discussions here, but want to ask my own, computer specific question. I'm looking for a good graphics card for my Dell 9020 SFF. I have a sound card in the smaller PCI slot (I guess it's a PCIx1 slot), so I need a single slot (is that the right term?) card. It looks like I have almost exactly one inch of width available for the graphics card to fit. But I assume I'd want/need a little extra room for proper (or reasonably close to proper) ventilation for the card.I need a graphics card for video editing (mostly on Davinci Resolve). I currently have an AMD Radeon R7 450, but it can't keep up with the demands of Resolve. I'm not a gamer and really don't need the graphics card to do anything well except work with Resolve (and video editors in general).Do you have any suggestions? I'm hoping to spend a little less than $200 and I might buy a used card on eBay or some similar web site.Thanks in advance.

K1200 = 45w
RX 550 = 50w
Quadro P1000 = 47w

Any one of those will run fine on 255w without having to disconnect things. So sometimes redxps and I differ on disconnecting things.

SSD is recommended over HDD. Not only is power consumption less (5v vs. 12v), but SSD performance is better with faster read/write speeds

DaVinci Resolve is incredibly reliant on the GPU, especially if you have the Studio version of Resolve. ' 'The recommended graphics cards for DaVinci Resolve all come from Nvidia. While AMD does make graphics cards (the AMD Radeon series), you’ll never see them on the top of the benchmarks.' graphics cards like the GTX 1660 Super are wonderful cheap options. This card is full height and needs a psu upgrade that has 6 pin PCIe connector. you may use a PCIe riser cable to bypass the single slot width restraint of sff case. upgrade psu to Dell XE2 SFF psu 315 w. you may consider move the sff motherboard to a minitower case where you can build a proper rig.

To clarify, I'm not looking to alter my existing system and spend a lot of money doing so. I was hoping for a recommendation for an adequate graphics card for my existing system.

I'm now looking at two options, the NVIDIA Quadro K1200 and the Radeon RX 550. It looks like they'll both physically fit my system. I'm a little concerned about power limitations. As I said, I have the standard 255 Watt power supply.

Do you have any advice regarding which of those two cards is "better" and are there any limitations based on their power consumption?

powerwise RX550 is borderline for 255w psu if you use sata ssd, either no hdd or no dvd. If you use both hdd and dvd it will exceed 255w psu

ssd alone Load Wattage: 226 W
Recommended PSU Wattage: 276 W

ssd+dvd Load Wattage: 256 W
Recommended PSU Wattage: 306 W

I meant to mention while typing my post is be sure to go with the card that meets Davinci Resolve requirements.

Up to you, but if you do ever decide to upgrade PSU, I'm in agreement with redxps that the Optiplex XE2 315w PSU is the way to go.
