Optiplex 780 graphics card upgrade
Hello, I'm trying to upgrade my Optiplex 780 DT with a better graphics card. I've seen suggestions from GT 1030 to GTX 750 Ti to GTX 1650. I'd like to put in a 750 Ti low profile version but I'm concerned if it would fit since it looks like any long card would be extremely close to the CPU cooler.

you might be able to use a PCIe riser cable so you can install a full height GTX750ti in the DT case lying down. the downside is you need to snake the video cable through back card slot inside case to connect to video card.

Hi, the MSI GTX 750 Ti low profile and MSI GTX 1650 low profile (the version with HDMI and DVI only and no Displayport) will fit and work without a problem as I've used both on my Optiplex 780 DT. The MSI GTX 1050 Ti low profile will not fit as I've seen a video of a Youtuber trying that on the similar Optiplex 760 DT and it was too long and also double slot with a protruding DVI port. The MSI 1650 low profile (with HDMI and DVI only) has a double slot bracket by default but can easily be turned single slot with a 750 Ti bracket. It has to be the HDMI and DVI only version as the one with those ports and Displayport has a protruding DVI port like the 1050 Ti. The fit will be tight but it will clear the CPU heatsink by about 1/4 of an inch. There's also official Dell riser cards for DT Optiplex's with PCIe X16 slot that appear to work with full height single slot graphics cards but I cannot confirm.
