Optiplex MT Internal speaker
Hey all,.
Ya I post crazy questions, got another.
My 9020 mt internal speaker is weak. I would like to have the YouTube volume well enough for me to here it , Better later in an Arcade cabinet.. I have a few Dell parts boxes and I have a 4 wire speaker that looks like it has an amp on it from an Optiplex GX520 and with no power in that unit I don't know the input power or pining. I know you all have been a wealth of information and hope you might know this one. Hopefully it's not to dumb a question. I couldn't find it anywhere else.
I do have a Thermaltake p/s and have had a bad time with tiny radio amps in the past, have this one in my hand and can easily mount it and am cheep.
Thanks all Bob.

Hi @Bob Harrison,
The only time the internal speaker is strong is if it beeps, like beeping an error code. Best bet is external speakers or hook it to a stereo.
I'm thinking of the speaker that's barely 1" big. So if I'm wrong, please upload a photo of it to get a better idea of what we're dealing with. I think at one point older Optiplex's had a normal size internal speaker option.
Not a dumb question you posted. I also received your PM (private message). I'm simply replying here because PM is difficult to use from my phone. I mainly do this from my phone due to seating convenience and it's a nice energy saver.

Hello Mr brad.
I did have a day I need to recoop from but did get your look reply and appreciate it. The thin tower I did pull this one out of has a small amp built on it and looks like my laptop speaker. I really don't need much now and am going to replace it later to put in a cabinet if I can get all these software goodies in I have to do. YouTube has gotten me In and out of a ton of snags so running then on the 9020 and not my phone seams more effective sometimes. I'm using it quite a bit and think it is underated teaching sometimes.
I spun off I had to look deeper after your reply and I found Dell put the markings on this tiny amp board. the power is 5v and has ground and speaker wire marks on it. The speaker is a 4ohm 2watt and I have a floppy plug on this Thermaltake in will never use and breadboard wireing I can solder in.. Gota recoop so maybe tomarrow to give it a try. I do have another thin case tower that looks like the doner so Maby I could have 2 LOL 1 to start and yes I will try to learn how to get pictures onto here.
Thanks again Bob H

Hey all,
I did get a chance to power the little amp from the early OptiPlex and it sorta did something, It buzzed , no volume control, and the laptop type speaker it had was replaced with 2 different ones and still buzzed. Junked the Idea. Just had to try. Part of who I am. I will try the power supply I have for the old dells I have. Glutton. Or buy something , Gota love Amazon. Thank you all. I do have a set with a plug that look like a keyboard plug from old If you all might tell me how to hotwire them?.
You tube got me started trying to build a computer for playing games online with the grand children, that failed so I bought some disks for pinball and Zaxon for us, now they dont run on windows 10 and I cant find the bios update for this 9020 MT in Dell. What a ride.
Thanks Guys I appreciate Your time to fill in for Dell not servicing there product with support.

Google "Optiplex 9020 mt bios download":
BIOS can also go along the lines of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." Reason being because if everything doesn't go exactly right to the letter, it can brick the MB. I did notice in the screengrab it says "Urgent," which is typical for BIOS updates.
Old games are probably 32-bit and incompatible with Win10 64-bit, which has nothing to do with BIOS update.
