Renesas USB3.0 Driver not working
I have a Dell Optiplex 790. SSD, Windows 7. The Dell has proved to be very reliable, no problems at all. The ports are USB 2.0, which is slow for larger file transfers, notably backups. A USB 3.0 card was installed a few years ago, and a hub is plugged into that. When the card and hub were installed there were problems with the Renesas card driver, and for a while the card driver needed to be uninstalled and reinstalled. It's been stable for nearly two years.
A few weeks ago the hub ports started to cease functioning. The 3.0 ones went first, then the 2.0 ones. A drive plugged into the second card 3.0 port also was not recognised. I unistalled the driver and reinstalled. No good. Then I used a restore point prior to the card-hub ceasing to work. Also no good.

You have USB flash drive rootkit malware and this is interfering with the installer service.
Scorched Earth Clean install is required.

I suggest you test and troubleshoot Renesas USB-3.0 PCIe Addin card with NO HUBs for now.
Under Windows-10/64bit ... Microsoft Update tossed me the driver for mine.

If your card is old (like maybe a uPD720200 or uPD720200A model) a firmware upgrade might help with compatibility.

Speedstep, you mention two sorts of drivers. Can you please advise which one is best or most suitable?
Tesla, I have a Win 7 64 bit system. The hub is not connected. Would the Win 10 driver work for my card?

This is not pick one and hope it sticks. Try installing ALL 3 of the drivers I listed. If they do not apply they won't install. It is VERY LIKELY Malware is interfering with the windows installer service. I doubt that any of the hardware is bad only that the software is corrupted. I have clients all the time swear up and down there is no malware. They refuse to pay for reinstall so we send a tech with Live Linux DVD and boot and show them all hardware working. Then when they refuse to pay for an onsite diagnosis and a reinstall we terminate their service contract. They are always getting infected and then want free re installs from onsite techs indefinitely. They are outraged when we tell them its likely malware. We also tell them that if it is actually hardware we repair and replace components that are actually bad.
The specific Disk Used to test is Ubuntu Unleashed. It can be booted Live and will not touch anything on the hardware. The Hard drive can actually be physically removed and it will still boot and install and run showing all hardware working or not. This disk and book however are NOT FREE. The other thing the client asks is that we provide ubuntu DVD copies from this rather than their paying for a disk. The disk is used because its not a DVDRW copy its a commercial DVD that will not go bad over time.

If Windows-7 Update won't toss you a driver ... they you will have to go the card-makers website for drivers and firmware updates.

Been a bit busy of late. I downloaded the Intel one, and it just vanished. It may be on my system but I cannot find it in Program files, program files (x86), or user\downloads\. I've seen this before where there is no option to select a folder. Due to being unable to locate the folder I did not attempt the Dell downloads.
It may well be Malware - I do not know. The firewall is pretty high, but regardless, bad things can slip through. My system is Window. Will Ubuntu Unleashed work for that?
I see limited gain in updating every new OS. Windows 95 and Window 8 are good examples. I'll wait until late next year and then assess options.
The only number on the card is MSIP-REI-BZ1-Pro, and this leads to https://fccid.io/MSIP-REI-BZP-BZ1-Pro.
For now I'm seeking advice about the card and drivers. Are the Intel and Dell ones cited above suitable, and what happened to the one I downloaded?
