Any customers running Oracle Extended RAC?

Hi all,

I'll like to know if you know of any customer sites who is deploying or has deployed Oracle Extended RAC?  I have a customer who is deploying it and I would like to find out more about how it was deployed.  You may contact me directly at samuel.ng@emc.com

Thanks.

regards,

Sam

We have it too   Backup wise, no big deal - just as anything else.

It works well - we use vip address to access nodes and share load between nodes.  For that to work, you must configure NMDA on each node of course, but it works just fine and as advertised.  We use vip address name as NSR_CLIENT.

Could you share some information if you have:

-  Distance between the sites

-  IP Link bandwidth and RTT for the RAC interconnection between nodes?

-  Workload (number of users)?

Thanks!

Distance between sites is 15/25km (two paths).  Workload is around 3k users.  We use dark fiber in between, but numbers escape me now and I do not have access to switch to check it.

Hrvoje,

I saw this discussion and I wanted to thank you for providing your experiences and implementation details to people interested in VPLEX. This community really is at its best when customers participate in the conversations by providing feedback their infrastructure.

For those folks reading this discussion I would like to provide some supporting content about running Extended Oracle RAC on EMC VPLEX Metro:
